Senior Director of Operations

The Columbia Chamber of Commerce is seeking to hire for the position of Senior Director of Operations. As a representative of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, this role is an essential component in delivering value to members. This position will work under the direction of the President and is responsible for the internal operations, financial operations, human resources, and other duties as assigned by the President in accordance with established organizational goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:       

  • The individual holding this position should have a bachelor’s degree or similar (years of experience may be substituted for degree). Three to five years managerial experience in association work or equivalent corporate experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment and make decisions necessary to achieve success in assigned areas.
  • Possess general computer, database, organizational and planning skills.
  • Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills required.
  • Have a strong work ethic and be willing to take initiative on projects.
  • Be self-motivated with the ability to complete projects under limited supervision and direction.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, volunteers, Chamber members and the general public.
  • Must be team-minded for this position and all positions within the Chamber.
  • Occasional travel and events outside normal workday required.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Frequently transports materials with the need to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check.

 DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform accounting procedures with organizations operating accounts, programs and divisions.
  • Assists to help identify Chamber needs and make recommendations for appropriate action to the President.
  • Works to recruit and motivate a broad cross-section of volunteers to ensure effectiveness of Chamber programs.
  • Develops and nurtures internal relationships and operations that assist the Chamber in successfully accomplishing its goals.
  • Assist with leading and guiding the staff through reaching their fullest potential and goals.
  • The staff liaison to the Executive Board, Board of Directors, Budget and Finance Committee and the Fair Missouri Foundation including responsibilities for the body of knowledge and program development and implementation of said groups.
  • Manage the Chamber’s membership database.
  • Oversee the internal Chamber operations.
  • Manage assigned staff.
  • Work to help maintain and develop the membership at a level, which will ensure income for operation of Chamber programs.
  • Oversee Human Resources for the organization including to assist with benefits administration and enrollment which encompasses medical, dental, flex spending and 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects at the request of the Chamber President.
  • Regularly reviews operations of assigned Chamber projects and reports to the Chamber President.
  • Participates in and gives direction to both long- and short-range planning for the Chamber and is involved in the shaping of all overall organizational goals and objectives.

Director of Women’s Network

The Columbia Chamber of Commerce is seeking to hire for the position of Director of Women’s Network. As a division of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce this role is essential in delivering value to members. The position is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Women’s Network division and must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. This position includes volunteer management, event and program planning and division communications.

  • Experience in event and program management preferred.

  • Work in partnership with the Women’s Network Chair and Steering Committee
  • Be the contact person for the Women’s Network membership
  • Oversee all communications with Women’s Network members, committee members and volunteers.
  • Maintain Women’s Network membership data and onboarding process.
  • Coordinate, attend and take notes at all Women’s Network committee meetings.
  • Coordinate all Women’s Network programs and events.
  • Maintenance of Women’s Network website and social media.
  • Track invoices, revenue, expenses while working closely with the Women’s Network Treasurer.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, sponsors and volunteers to deliver positive outcomes.

Director of Program Development

The Columbia Chamber of Commerce is seeking to hire for the position of Director Program Development. This role is essential in delivering value to members and the success of Chamber programs. The position is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Emerging Professionals in Columbia (EPIC) Division, Small Business Committee and Leadership Columbia. This position includes volunteer management, event and program planning and division communications.

  • Experience in event and program management preferred.

    • Be the contact person for the EPIC membership,
    • Oversee all communications with EPIC members, committee members and volunteers,
    • Maintain EPIC’s membership data and onboarding process, and
    • Oversee all EPIC’s administration including coordination of committees, programs and sponsorship management.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Small Business Committee.
    • Small Business week,
    • Small Business of the Year celebration,
    • Coordinate, attend and take notes in all committee meetings, and
  • Small Business Fest.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Leadership Columbia. Including class recruitment, volunteer management and coordination of sessions.
