AWARDS, PROMOTIONS AND NEW HIRES

  • Providence Bank is pleased to announce the addition of Michael (Mike) J. Wagner as Vice President, Director of Consumer Loan Sales/Banking Center Manager. In his role, Wagner will be responsible for consumer loan sales and the management and supervision of the Banking Center employees and the continued business development of Columbia and the surrounding area.
  • The Society of Government Meeting Professionals Missouri State Capitol Chapter 2018 – 2019 presented the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau with awards highlighting their participation and dedication to the SGMP cause.
    • CVB received the Silver Sponsor award. This is awarded to those who donated or sponsored the chapter totaling $1,000 to $2,500.
    • Convention Sales Manager, Terra Crane, received the Supplier of the Year award. This award highlights an individual who has active participation and contributes to the chapter. They are considered to be an exemplary model of what SGMP represents.
    • Crane also received the President’s Award. This honor is bestowed upon an individual by the president and is given to someone who shows dedication and commitment to the organization.
  • Leading global market research company J.D. Power has announced that Shelter Insurance® ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction among Auto Insurers in the Central Region” on their U.S. Auto Insurance Study. Shelter received this honor in 2016 and 2018 as well. This study asked customers to provide feedback about their overall satisfaction with their auto insurance company in the following study factors: Interaction, Policy Offerings, Price, Billing Process and Policy Information, and Claims.
  • The Networks of Mid-Missouri announced that its news department took home nine awards in the recent Missouri Broadcasters Association (MBA) Awards competition. ABC 17 News landed six first-place honors at the annual MBA convention:
    • Complete Newscast award – the award honors the best newscast in the state, for 2019.
    • Anchor Ashley Strohmier won MBA’s “Best News Anchor” award.
    • The station won first place awards for its coverage of Gov. Eric Greitens’ resignation, the Missouri legislature, the Jan. 11, 2019 snow storm and for supporting community events.
    • The group also received recognition in sports, promotions and for its ongoing coverage of medical marijuana in the state.
  • Central Bank of Boone County has named DJ Daller and Garrett Rucinski as their new Relationship Managers. As a relationship manager, they will assist business customers with their financial goals.
  • Services for Independent Living has hired Jessica Macy as Executive Director effective June 26, 2019. SIL is committed to expanding and providing innovative services to meet the ever-changing needs of the individuals we serve and our communities.
  • KOMU 8 was honored with three awards from the Missouri Broadcasters Association on Saturday at MBA’s annual awards ceremony. KOMU 8 received first-place honors in the following categories:
    • Best Weathercast for Chief Meteorologist Kenton Gewecke
    • Best Local Website for www.KOMU.com
    • Best Commercial Announcement for “Come Play at Midway”, awarded to Braydan Hogue
  • Central Bank of Boone County announces three employee promotions made in May. Justis Leach of the Woodrail Bank has been promoted to teller II. Employees are hired as a teller I then, once they’ve completed their training and have had six months of successful experience, they are promoted to a teller II. Grant McDonnell of the Smiley Bank and Simran Kaur of the Downtown Bank have been promoted to senior tellers. Senior tellers lead the banks operationally and assist fellow tellers when needed.
  • Central Bank of Boone County has named Sarah Moreau assistant vice president, community outreach officer and ProsperU director. The community outreach officer primarily serves as director of ProsperU, a financial educational program designed to empower individuals and business owners with opportunities to grow.
  • Job Point’s YouthBuild program has been awarded $65,000 in AmeriCorps funding from a national YouthBuild USA grant. YouthBuild USA is the nonprofit support center for YouthBuild programs across the country.

  • Burrell Behavioral Health and Stephens College signed a Memorandum of Understanding as a first step toward an innovative co-branded partnership focused on developing highly qualified behavioral and mental health professionals to serve mid-Missouri. The collaboration will include Burrell directly and actively recruiting Stephens undergraduate students, particularly those in psychology and related programs; and creating pathways to enable Burrell employees to pursue their Master of Education in Counseling or additional certifications more quickly, building off of Stephens’ long-term success in this co-educational graduate program. Other plans are in development.
  • Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: SBGI), parent company of KRCG 13, announced its ‘Stand America Strong’ initiative in partnership with the Salvation Army to aid ongoing disaster relief efforts for survivors of the recent outbreaks of severe weather devastating communities across the country. Sinclair held a nationwide Day of Giving on June 3, with all of its stations participating in on-air, digital and social media efforts to encourage viewers to donate and help local communities recover from the damage.
