The members of Leadership Columbia 2019 had a unique and exciting opportunity to wrap up their six-month program in June during their final session day on the subject of “Growth & Economy.” The highlight of the day was individual sightseeing flights carried out in 2 and 4-passenger planes over Columbia, to emphasize how Columbia and the outlying areas have grown over the years. Throughout the day, speakers talked to the group about expansion in our community, economic development incentives, angel investment into startups, entrepreneurial resources, and they also heard from legacy companies. Following their final session, the 28 class members gathered on June 14 to reflect on their experience this year and opportunities for continued community involvement, after which they graduated in front of employers and colleagues, fellow classmates and representatives of the business community during a luncheon banquet. Preparations are already underway for the Class of 2020 which will begin in January, with applications available this September.
